Concerns around a position of trust

We ensure that all parents know how to raise concerns about the behaviour or actions of staff or volunteers within the setting, or anyone working on the premises occupied by the setting, which may include an allegation of abuse, this is done by displaying a complaint procedure on our parent notice board at all times also the process is verbally explained to all parent/carers during admission.

Complaints will be formally logged; nursery will resolve the concern within one week depending on the nature of the concern.

We respond to any disclosure by children or staff that abused by a member of staff or anyone working on the premise, may have taken, or is taking place, by first recording the details of any such alleged incident. If it is concluded that a child may have been put at risk of significant harm then we will refer to the Early Years Consultant Duty Team at 0121 5694974 / 5694978, local authority Designated Officer (LADO) 0121 675 1669. Where the Directors and management and MASH team agree it is appropriate in the circumstances, the director / manager will suspend the member of staff on full pay, or the volunteer, for the duration of the investigation. We will keep the staff member updated on the process of investigation. Where a member of staff or a volunteer is dismissed from the setting because of misconduct relating to a child, or the allegation made against a child proves to be true then we notify the Independent Barring Board administrators so that the name may be included on the Protection of Children and Vulnerable Adults Barred List.
